Why Choose BestView Bengals?

What makes BestView Bengals different?

Beyond the standard baseline of health testing and socialization, we focus on two things: temperament and gut health.

On temperament — we try to select for cuddly, affectionate cats, and it’s something we consider carefully with every pairing. While we can’t guarantee any individual kitten’s temperament, we’ve found our BestView lines tend to run toward lap cats rather than aloof and independent.

On gut health — our first two pet Bengals had gut problems, and we’ve since learned that digestive issues are a common complaint among Bengal owners. A balanced raw diet can often help, but many owners can’t or don’t want to feed raw long-term. We prioritize breeding cats whose guts handle everyday pet foods well, and we start all our kittens on kibble soup for exactly this reason.

About the Breeds

What are Bengals like as pets?

Bengals are highly intelligent, active, and curious cats. They love to climb, explore, and often enjoy playing in water. They're affectionate and bond closely with their families — and while all Bengals are high-energy, each cat has their own personality. Some are very cuddly lap cats; others prefer to be near you while doing their own thing. They thrive with enrichment, interactive toys, and a companion animal.

What are Devon Rex like as pets?

Devon Rex are famously people-oriented — they've earned the nickname "pixie cats" for their elfin looks and playful personalities. They love to perch on shoulders, curl up on laps, and be involved in everything you do. Like Bengals, they're high-energy and need interactive play, but they tend to be exceptionally cuddly.

Are Bengals or Devon Rex hypoallergenic?

No cat is truly hypoallergenic, but both breeds are often tolerated better by allergy sufferers. Bengals have a fine, pelt-like coat that sheds less than most breeds. Devon Rex have very short, wavy coats with minimal shedding. If you have cat allergies, we recommend spending time with the breed before committing.

Do Bengals or Devon Rex get along with children and other pets?

Generally yes — both breeds tend to be social and adaptable. Bengals especially enjoy having a playmate, whether that's a child, another cat, or a dog. Proper introductions and supervised interaction are important, especially with young children.

The Process

How do I get on the waitlist?

Fill out our application. We typically respond within 24 hours. You must reply to our initial email to be officially added to the waitlist. Waitlist members are contacted first when kittens become available to reserve.

How long is the wait for a kitten?

It typically takes about six months from the time of breeding to when kittens are ready to go home. Wait times vary depending on litter availability and your preferences (breed, pattern, gender). We encourage you to get on our waitlist early.

How do I reserve a kitten?

Once a litter is available and we've contacted waitlist members, reserving a kitten requires a 10% non-refundable deposit and a signed Pet Agreement. The remaining balance is due at pickup or delivery. Payment is accepted via Cash App, Zelle, Venmo, or cash — no personal checks.

Is the deposit refundable?

The deposit is non-refundable if you change your mind. However, if we determine the kitten isn't the right match for your home, or if we decide to keep a kitten as a breeder, your deposit will be refunded in full — or you can apply it toward a future kitten.

Can I pick my specific kitten?

Waitlist members are contacted in order and given the opportunity to choose from available kittens in that litter. We try to match kittens to families based on personality and your stated preferences.

Pricing & What’s Included

How much do your kittens cost?

Bengal kittens currently start at $1,800 (marbled), $2,000 (spotted), and $2,200 (rosetted). Devon Rex kittens start at $1,800. Pricing reflects temperament, pattern, color, glitter, type, and age at release. Prices will be increasing for kittens born after July 2026. If you're already on our waitlist, your price will be the same as when you joined — no surprises.

What’s included with my kitten?

Every kitten goes home spayed/neutered, with core FVRCP vaccinations, a microchip, full vet records, and a TICA breeder slip. TICA registration and pedigree paperwork is available upon request for an additional $60 fee.

Health & Care

What health testing do you do on your breeding cats?

Our breeding cats are regularly screened for HCM (hypertrophic cardiomyopathy) by a veterinary cardiologist, and we do not breed any cat found to have HCM. All breeding cats are also genetically tested for progressive retinal atrophy (PRA-b) and pyruvate kinase deficiency (PK-Def) — no BestView cats carry these diseases.

What is your health guarantee?

Every kitten is sold in good health following a full veterinary exam. Our guarantee covers:

  • PRA-b and PK-Def: Guaranteed for life — if your cat is ever diagnosed with either condition, they will be replaced at no charge.
  • Fatal congenital defects (including HCM): Guaranteed for 5 years from purchase. If a kitten passes from an inherited congenital defect, we cover the following percentage of the purchase price toward a replacement kitten: 100% (year 1), 80% (year 2), 60% (year 3), 40% (year 4), 20% (year 5). A veterinary necropsy confirming cause of death is required.
  • FIP: If a kitten under 1 year of age passes from Feline Infectious Peritonitis, confirmed by a licensed veterinarian, they will be replaced at no charge.

To keep the guarantee valid, your kitten must be seen by your own veterinarian within the first 5 days of ownership — we recommend scheduling this appointment before you bring your kitten home, as vets are often booked weeks out.

Are your kittens indoor-only?

Yes — all kittens are placed as primarily indoor pets. This is a condition of our Pet Agreement. If you'd like to take your cat outside, it must be leashed or in a safely contained area — no free roaming.

Do you declaw?

We do not declaw and do not place kittens with families who intend to declaw. Per our Pet Agreement, declawing is a breach of contract and voids all health guarantees.

What do you feed your cats, and what should I feed my kitten?

We feed what we call kibble soup — dry food with water added. Here's why:

A balanced raw diet is genuinely the best nutrition you can give a cat — our cats eat raw too, alongside their kibble soup. But most families don't continue raw feeding after bringing a kitten home, and kittens sometimes struggled transitioning off raw once they arrived at their new homes. So we looked for the next best thing.

The biggest issue with dry kibble is that it causes chronic dehydration — cats fed only dry food frequently develop kidney disease as adults. By adding water directly to the kibble, we make sure cats are getting significant hydration from every meal. It's simple, affordable, and we've found people are much more likely to stick with it than a raw diet.

For kittens we use Orijen Kitten kibble soup. Adults eat Orijen or Purina One Tender Selects Blend (Chicken). We recommend continuing with Orijen Kitten kibble soup when you bring your new kitten home to ease the transition, then changing foods gradually if you'd like.

Logistics

Do you ship kittens?

We prefer in-person pickup, but we can discuss options if you are not local to the Sierra Nevada foothills or Bay Area, California.

At what age do kittens go home?

Kittens go home between 13–16 weeks of age, after they are spayed/neutered, vaccinated, and have been fully socialized with people.

What if I can no longer keep my cat?

If at any time you can no longer care for your cat, please contact us before rehoming or surrendering. We will always be willing to take a BestView cat back — however, all sales are final and there are no refunds.
